An abstract image from the architecture on Montserrat. I’ve been to Montserrat twice, both times from Barcelona. It’s a lovely place and very much recommended for a day visit of the abbey or walks in the mountains. The second time I stayed there I stayed a few days in the simple accommodations offered for those who wish to stay on the mountain. Historically they were for religious pilgrims, though often now they are used for tourists. The mountain a wonderful place for hiking if the weather isn’t too hot and it’s steeped in interesting, and sometimes curious, history. The abbey basilica has one of the prettiest, well preserved interiors I can remember.
