Burg Eltz
A picture of lovely Burg Eltz castle. It’s certainly not a novelty in the world of internet photos but it is a beautiful castle and I will add a few more photos to the numbers already on the internet. It’s a well preserved castle, having never been destroyed in war, and some of the family still resides there. Perhaps one of the best parts is that it’s nestled in wooded hills and requires a walk to reach it. There is a car park nearby which provides for a short stroll to the castle but perhaps best is the walk from Moselkern. It’s about 4.5 km in one direction or just over an hour walking. This allows for a lovely day out by taking the train to Moselkern with a lovely walk to the castle and back. The way is well marked on the footpath and through the town. The Burg Eltz website also provides a few options for getting there, as well as a longer hike for seasoned walkers.
