Shisha Gumbad in Lodhi Gardens

Shisha Gumbad in Lodhi Gardens

By chance, Lodhi Gardens was one of the first places I wandered in Delhi, and it made for a lovely morning. My commute wasn’t bad and I was able to walk through a bit of semi-normal Delhi. Once there I had the open gardens as well as the lovely ruins there to explore. The one pictured above is Shisha Gumbad, which apparently means glass dome. Archeologist believe the dome was once covered with shiny blue tiles that sparkled in the sunlight, giving the tomb its name. There are now only traces of this tile above one entrance. The tomb is from the Lodhi Dynasty, but the exact persons buried here are unknown.
