The Taj Mahal from Agra Fort

The Taj Mahal, as viewed from Agra Fort. Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal to entomb his favourite wife Mumtaz Mahal; he was later buried beside her upon his own death. Widely viewed as one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, I was expecting to be somewhat let-down and definitely was not. Agra Fort was one of Shah Jahan’s palaces and he was eventually imprisoned there by one of his sons who declared him incompetent to rule. He deliberately built the Taj Mahal to be in the view of the fort. Agra Fort is huge and is sometimes referred to as a small walled city. It was the capital of the Mughal Dynasty till it was moved to Delhi in 1638.
