Tilework from the Tomb of I’timād-ud-Daulah

Beautiful tilework from the Tomb of I’timād-ud-Daulah in Agra, India. Sometimes called ‘Baby Taj’, this is a gorgeous tomb in it’s own right that gets overshadowed by being situated in the same city as the Taj Mahāl. The tile work at this tomb is astonishing and beautiful to look at for the colours, the patterns, and the craftsmanship. It was commissioned by the ancestors of Mumtāz Mahāl. Mumtāz Mahāl was the wife of Shāh Jahān, who was responsible for the construction of the Taj Mahāl. There is some speculation that it may have served as inspiration for the more famous monument.
